Why Suns star has confidence they can break home-and-away yips

Gold Coast Suns midfielder Noah Anderson is set to play his 100th game this weekend in the Q-Clash against Brisbane.

Despite losing all nine away games this season, the Suns have a real strength in nailing their home turf performances.

Anderson is certain the boys will perform and continue their home game win streak which sits at seven at People First Stadium (plus two in Darwin).

Amongst the excitement of a career milestone, Anderson reflects on the club’s potential to push for finals and the influence of Damien Hardwick’s coaching.

“We’ve just got to keep focusing on the process and winning, and we feel like that was good on the weekend despite the scoreboard,” Anderson explained on SEN Breakfast

“I think it’s not something that we want to be known as, a team that can’t play away. I think that we haven’t been able to play our best footy away from home against the teams that we’ve been playing.

“I’ve got real confidence that we’ll be able to do that to finish off the year and take really good learnings from this year moving forward as our group moves forward over the next few years.

“I’ve seen what we do week to week for the whole year, we’re obviously putting in the work, we’re going to work on it, we’re training hard, we’re having the conversations, we’re having the tough conversations.

“I just have real confidence that it’s going to turn because I look around at the playing group and coaching staff and I see a group that’s really committed, so it’s not something that phases me going forward at all.

“To be honest, we’ve had a lot of Richmond boys come through the club so they’ve kind of drip-fed us little hints every now and then. We haven’t been too surprised with what he’s been about, but it’s been an absolute pleasure to play under Hardwick and learn from him.”

The Suns will gain an advantage with Lions co-captain Harris Andrews ruled out due to concussion.

The Q-Clash is set to kick off at 4:35pm (AEST) on Saturday.
