Australian Olympic flagbearer Jess Fox has won gold in the final of the canoe slalom K-1 overnight.

It is her first gold in the event, having previously claimed silver and two bronze medals.

Fox was emotional on the podium, winning the gold in the nation of her birth.

Elsewhere, Arianne Titmus and Mollie O’Callaghan qualified one and two in the 200m freestyle semi-finals, setting up an epic showdown tomorrow.

The pair have traded the world record over the last few years and will now face off for the ultimate bragging rights.

The Matildas were on the brink of an epic collapse, going down 5-2 to Zambia overnight, before recovering to win 6-5 thanks to a 95th minute winner.

They will now have to beat the U.S to ensure qualification and will hopefully take some confidence out of the comeback.
