Nathan Buckley is quickly losing faith in both Carlton and Port Adelaide, after their display on Friday night.

The Power overran the Blues, despite going down by 31 points in the second term.

The former Collingwood coach doesn’t see either team having a big impact in September, despite both being a game clear inside the top eight.

“I was struck watching that game thinking that neither of these sides are going to do a lot of damage in September,” Buckley told SEN Breakfast.

“They were second and third on the ladder at that particular time.

“I think defensively they both look like they’re vulnerable. I think they lose too many contests that they should win and they’re too inconsistent up the other end as well.

“I liked Esava Ratugolea’s move forward, he took a couple of nice marks and kicked some goals, he’ll play an important role there even if he’s not a world beater.

“Port Adelaide, I think they’re shuffling the deck chairs and finding the best that they can, but geez you can expose them in their back six.”

Both teams next play on Saturday night, with Carlton facing Collingwood and the Power hosting Sydney.
