To start the week, Scotty Stevenson and Israel Dagg reacted to the 36-man All Blacks Rugby Championship squad that was named on July 28, plus Izzy reflected on his first-ever home game experience at Go Media Stadium with his family to watch the NZ Warriors - something that the former All Black won't forget anytime soon it seems.
But the big event that was demanding our attention is of course the Olympics in Paris, and we were lucky enough to catch up with some of New Zealand's medal winners across the week.
This is the best from the week that was on Scotty & Izzy:
Women's Rugby Sevens:
Invercargill's Alena Saili joined Wednesday’s show after the Black Ferns Sevens won New Zealand’s first medal of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, completing a successful defence of their gold medal from Tokyo 2020 - Saili now a double Olympic gold medal-winner.
Men's Triathlon:
Dylan McCullough joined us on Thursday after he sacrificed his own race to help fellow Kiwi Hayden Wilde pick up a silver medal. He discussed the gameplan leading in to the race and how he always knew he had a different role to play for his country.
Rowing - Men's Four:
Ollie Maclean & Matt Macdonald were two of the men’s coxless four who won an Olympic silver and they both joined us on Friday to recap the experience from Paris.
Rowing - Women's Double Sculls:
It was also great to catch up with Lucy Spoors & Brooke Francis on Friday morning, who managed an incredible Olympic gold in the women’s double sculls. Even better, it was the first time two Mums have rowed together to a gold medal for New Zealand!
