Who were the six best players in Round 21?
Nathan Buckley assessed each game on SEN Breakfast and came up with his top six performers (including a guest entrant from another sport).
Read his thoughts below:
Luke Davies-Uniacke (North Melbourne)
“What an amazing performance,” Buckley said.
“‘LDU’ had 33 and kicked three goals, more importantly. Midfielders that get touches, win clearances, hard balls and stick tackles, that’s great.
“If you can get forward, break the lines and hit the scoreboard, you elevate yourself.
“That was great to see him frank his excellent form and hit the scoreboard.”
Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs)
“He’s probably handed some of his responsibility over to other players.
“They’re playing really well as a team and their reliance on him seems to have diminished.
“But that means he can even more impact with less effort or less touches. He seemed to come out and say, ‘Yep, I’m still the main man here’.”
Jeremy Cameron (Geelong)
“Jeremy Cameron on Saturday night was huge in kicking six and getting the Cats over the line.”
Jesse Hogan (GWS)
“I love Jesse Hogan’s form.
“When you think back to the same time last year when GWS were coming with a run he was plucking everything.
“He is the cleanest, strongest mark in the comp when he gets going. His eye is in at the moment, he can mark them from anywhere.”
Cam Rayner (Brisbane)
“He stood out again.
“He didn’t do a lot early but just continue to progress. 22 touches and three goals.
“Rayner is perfectly matched for that role (as a centre bounce contributor who impacts forward).”
Noah Lyles (USA)
“I’m sneaking Noah Lyles in as the sixth because he’s the fastest man in the world.”
