State Of Origin is back!
The On The Menu meals brand, in partnership with Sports Entertainment Network (SEN), proudly announces a thrilling one-off State of Origin match featuring some of our favourite former AFL players and AFL identities.
The event will take place on Wednesday, 28th August, from 6PM to 7:30PM AEST at Gosch’s Paddock in Melbourne.
The Vics, coached by Hawthorn champion Dermott Brereton, will face off against the All Stars, led by Coleman Medallist Scott Cummings, in an exciting 9-a-side format.
Hawks premiership hard man Campbell Brown will skipper the Vics. Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes will lead the All Stars.
So far there have been five more players added and one boundary rider, SEN SA’s Jarrod Walsh, who will be part of the commentary team which includes Brownlow Medallist Adam Cooney and SEN’s Miles Pfitzner.
Former Carlton captain Marc Murphy, ex-North Melbourne skipper Jack Ziebell, former Hawthorn sharpshooter Ben Dixon, ex-Adelaide forward Josh Jenkins, Carlton favourite Brendan Fevola, Western Bulldogs great Brad Johnson, former Essendon gun David Zaharakis and AFL games record holder and North Melbourne legend Brent Harvey have all been selected to play for Victoria.
Fremantle cult hero Hayden Ballantyne, Port Adelaide premiership hero Darryl Wakelin, Geelong and North Melbourne premiership forward Cam Mooney, dual Geelong premiership player and former Magpie Travis Varcoe, two-time Adelaide premiership captain Mark Bickley and ex-Melbourne star Brad Green have been added to the All Stars squad.
And not long after announcing his AFL retirement, 'Razor' Ray Chamberlain has been confirmed to umpire the game.
Stay tuned for more announcements with some massive names still to come.
