NRL legend Greg Alexander has had enough of the constant chatter about high shots in rugby league at the moment as the inconsistency in refereeing decisions dominates the headlines.
Whilst Alexander is not alone in his line of thinking, it hasn’t stopped a handful of NRL coaches coming out over the weekend with heavy criticism for the current state of officiating.
Titans coach Des Hasler admitted he’s lost confidence in the officials’ interpretations of the rules whilst Eels skipper Clint Gutherson referred to the bunker as a lottery.
As the headlines continue to be dominated by the referee’s decisions, Alexander is beyond fed up with the ongoing discussions.
“I’m sick of it, I’m over it,” Alexander said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“I’m sick of players appealing for penalties, I’m sick of commentators worrying about it’s high, whether it’s a penalty, a send-off, a binning.
“It dominates the chat, the high shots dominate the talk, I’m so over it (and) sick of it.
“I’m glad I’m not on social media, from the reports I get, that’s all people talk about, ‘Why wasn’t he sent off?’.
“That’s all we talk about, I’m refusing to mention it on commentary, I’m not touching it.
“I’m not touching high shots whether they’re high, binned, off (I’m) over it, so sick of it.”
