SEN host Dwayne Russell has revealed the five things he’ll remember the 2024 AFL Grand Final for.

Russell called the game for AFL Nation and he picked out five memorable moments.

He set up his list by saying: “In 10 years, what will be the things that are fresh in our mind that we’ll never forget?”

With that in mind, check out Dwayne’s top five below.

The Eric Hipwood goal

“I'll obviously remember it for the Hipwood goal,” Russell told SEN Afternoons.

“It was fun to call it and I'll remember the joy of being able to call that Hipwood goal.

“It was arguably the goal of the Grand Final, so I’ll remember it.”

Katy Perry

“I'll also remember it for Katy Perry.

“I think in 10 years’ time, we will remember it as the year Katy Perry absolutely slayed it on stage.”

Lachie Neale’s huge performance despite missing out on Norm Smith

“Lachie Neale, I think he'll be one of the great superstars of the game in 10 years’ time.

“But if he doesn't win a Norm Smith in his career, I think we'll remember it maybe for the Norm Smith he could have won but didn’t’.

“We do this with a few players who could have won Norm Smith Medals but didn’t win them.”

Oscar McInerney’s joy

“I think we'll also remember it for Oscar McInerney’s joy.

“I think the Oscar McInerney moment, it's almost proof to me and confirmation to me that we don’t need to give premiership medallions to everyone.

“I think kids need to learn how to lose but win. Oscar McInerney kind of lost but he won in the end.

“It's what's in your head and your heart more than what's on your trophy shelf. Oscar McInerney has proven that to us, and it was a beautiful moment that I think we'll remember forever.

“In fact, I reckon that'll go down in footy folklore … his unbridled joy was a beautiful part of it.”

Leigh Matthews/Chris Fagan embrace

“And I think the Matthews and Fagan hug will be the iconic image as well that we'll remember forever.

“There's a number of photos of it and I think we'll remember it for that.”
