GWS backup ruckman Braydon Preuss has announced his desire to continue his career at AFL level following news of his delisting at the end of the 2024 season.
The 29-year-old was told by the Giants that he would not be offered a new contract at the conclusion of his deal after mustering just 10 games for the club in four injury-riddled seasons.
The 207cm ruckman told AFL Trade Radio that he is hoping to land a spot on a fourth AFL club’s list.
“I think if I get another shot and do the proper rehab and have a good system around me, then I believe I should be fine for the next few years,” Preuss said.
“I’d love it if someone was out there that was keen, I'm pretty realistic about it and I think clubs just want to see me play and get through games of football.
“I feel like my avenue is to play VFL next year, but if any club comes calling I’d take it with both hands.”
Despite being traded twice across his short career at the top level, the ruckman has mustered some excitement regarding the prospect of donning new colours for the fourth time.
“You sort of sit down with your manager and go through the best plan for your career,” he continued.
“It’s actually quite an exciting time. I was talking to Nick Haynes about it and he feels like he’s getting drafted again, so it does give you a bit of a spark because it’s something new.”
After being selected with Pick 15 by North Melbourne in the 2015 rookie draft, Preuss has played second fiddle throughout his time in the AFL, averaging 10 touches and 25 hit-outs across his 28-game career.
