New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR) has today announced the resignation of Chief Executive Bruce Sharrock.

“I joined NZTR with a genuine passion for racing and a determination to see us return to the glory days of the sport," Sharrock said in a statement.

"I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished over the past 30 months, and feel the time is right to step aside and let the team continue to execute this vision for the future."

Sharrock has served as CEO since April 2022 and will remain in his role through until 31 December. He will then continue as a consultant to NZTR until 31 March to oversee the implementation of current projects.

“The building blocks are in place to enable a bright future for New Zealand Racing. We now need to accelerate and capitalise on the opportunities ahead,” he said.

Earlier this week, the outgoing NZTR boss featured on Trackside's The Guerin Report in an all-encompassing interview with host Mick Guerin.
