Carlton forward Matt Owies isn’t any closer to joining a new club despite being told by the Blues that he’s free to look around this off-season.
While the 27-year-old is coming off a strong season where he kicked 33 goals and emerged as Carlton’s most prolific small forward, SEN regular and Nine’s Tom Morris doesn’t think there’s an obvious suitor for him on the eve of the trade period.
Even though he’s without a contract for the 2025 season right now, Morris told a caller on AFL Trade Radio that Owies’ future in regard to finding a new club is in limbo.
“I think that's actually accurate (that he has no takers currently), as far as I know,” Morris told AFL Trade Radio.
“There's no one that's seriously considering Matt Owies at the moment.
“It doesn't mean Carlton won't re-sign him, but he's just one of those players in limbo, which is a difficult spot to be.”
Owies has been linked to Melbourne, West Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast as he weighs up his immediate future.
