Carlton captain Patrick Cripps has won a fifth John Nicholls Medal.

The inspirational Blues midfielder, who claimed his second Brownlow Medal a few weeks ago, dominated the Blues’ best and fairest count on Sunday night.

Cripps polled 204 votes to beat Nic Newman on 148 and Sam Walsh on 147 in third.

In winning a fifth B&F, Cripps has surpassed Bruce Doull’s four to join the great John Nicholls himself as the only Blues to lay claim to a handful.

Co-vice captain Jacob Weitering (144) and George Hewett (141) rounded out the top five.

Other award winners on the night included Hewett who won the Coaches Award, Elijah Hollands who was named the Best Young Player, Matt Kennedy who was named Best Clubman and Tom De Koning who won the Spirit of Carlton Award “for personifying the core values of being a Carlton player both on and off the field”.
