Adelaide is preparing to walk GWS utility James Peatling to the Pre-Season Draft if a trade can’t be reached with the Giants according to SEN’s Sam Edmund.
As things stand, the Giants are demanding a future second-round pick on its own in exchange for the 24-year-old and won’t negotiate with the Crows until that’s tabled.
Edmund says that the Crows have been trying to workshop a deal with the Giants with a heap of potential options thrown their way.
Ultimately, Edmund says that the Giants aren’t budging on their demands despite the Crows bending over backwards to get a deal done.
Given that the 45-gamer is out of contract, Edmund says that the Crows will walk Peatling to the Pre-Season Draft and take him there with pick No. 4 should a trade not occur.
“There is (a chance he’s walked to the Pre-Season Draft),” Edmund told SEN SA The Run Home.
“It's absolute crickets at the moment with James Peatling.
“Adelaide from what I'm told are bending over backwards to try and find common ground with the Giants, there might be 10 different versions that they've put forward now.
The latest is two future third-rounders, but among a stack of other offers, they’ve also recently put forward a future-second with something come back the other way.
The Giants are just not budging. They want a future second on its own and they keep knocking them back.
“It's got to the stage where the Crows are preparing to walk him to the Pre-Season Draft.
“If they have to take him at four in that draft, then they're saying that they will.”
The 2024 trade period deadline is set for 7:30 pm (AEDT) and 7:00 pm (ACDT) on Wednesday.
