The Group 1 Caulfield Cup will be run over 2400m at Caulfield on Saturday.
Without A Fight won the race last year, following in the footsteps of Durston, Incentivise, Verry Elleegant and Mer De Glace as other recent winners.
Read our analysis of the race below:
Going to stick with race favourite Buckaroo after tipping him in the Turnbull.
He is drawn beautifully in barrier 8, has won on both soft and heavy tracks, Joao Moreira rides again and Chris Waller is winning everything.
The slight query is the fact he is yet to win beyond 1800m, but he did produce the best finish of the race in his only try at 2400m in the Tancred in March.
If he is off his game then we should also be having something on Zardozi for James Cummings.
She was stiff to go down in The Metrop at this distance last start and gets a light weight of 51kg.
Loves rain-affected tracks and looks very nice value at around $7.50.
Eliyass, for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, must be respected but the widest barrier is a little off-putting.
On the basis of Zardozi being the second selection, Waller’s Land Legend should also figure in the numbers after the pair went toe-to-toe at Randwick last time.
2 - Buckaroo
13 - Zardozi
7 - Eliyass
8 - Land Legend
