By Andrew Slevison

The Group 1 Oaks will be run over 2500m at Flemington on Thursday.

Zardozi won the race last year, following in the footsteps of She's Extreme, Willowy, Personal, Miami Bound and Aristia.

Read our analysis of the race below:

The Wakeful Stakes can often act as a strong guide for the Oaks and that is the form route we’re taking with this year’s edition of the fillies classic.

Powers Of Opal was a beaten favourite on Saturday but can bounce back strongly here out to 2500m.

James McDonald has rated her as one of his best winning chances for the remainder of the Flemington Carnival.

She can certainly turn the tables on Treasurethe Moment who clearly must be respected based on that Wakeful win.

She’ll be up on the speed and will be in it for a long way.

The form of Too Darn Discreet is hard to knock having won three on the trot while Harlem Queen has knocked on the door in her last two starts after back-to-back wins.

Perhaps the best value play for exotics could be Killcare Beachgirl for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott who should lead.

Selections

5 - Powers Of Opal
1 - Treasurethe Moment
2 - Too Darn Discreet
3 - Harlem Queen
9 - Killcare Beachgirl
