Richmond youngster Josh Gibcus has had a tumultuous few seasons, having played just two games since 2022.
The 21-year-old missed all of 2023 with a hamstring issue and suffered a torn ACL early in 2024.
Gibcus’ player manager Tom Seccull provided a positive update on the promising key defender ahead of 2025.
“He was a top draft pick, he’s an extremely talented individual and player and had that bad hamstring injury and then obviously the ACL,” Seccull told SEN’s Sportsday.
“He’s just returned from Qatar where a number of players go over there. He went and saw Dr Enda King who specialises in biomechanics and physiotherapy for his treatment over there.
“He saw him when he did his hamstring and then went back and saw him to check for his knee and he got a clean out on that knee at the end of the season and he’s in great shape and I’m really looking forward to seeing him come back and play.
“He’s a really important player for the Tigers and where they’re at and how their club is rebuilding and developing with their young talent.”
Gibcus was taken with pick nine in the 2021 National Draft and will be a key pillar of Richmond’s rebuild.
