SENTrack: Chris Nelson's Saturday best bets at Sunshine Coast, Mooloolaba Cup (16/11)

This seasons Summer Racing Carnival gets underway on the Sunshine Coast this afternoon with the Mooloolaba Cup the feature. The rain has certainly arrived overnight & is still falling this morning showing no signs of stopping, expect a heavy surface. First of 10 races get under way at 12.18pm QLD time. Tread very warily.

RACE 2 # 1 EXOTIQUE MISS

Caught the eye with a couple of strong efforts first two runs back from a break racing wide first up before no chance in a slowly run race the next. She looked well placed last start however after leading couldn’t sustain her finish, on face value the effort was disappointing however there’s a couple of factors likely against her on the day suggesting we give her another chance this afternoon.

RACE 5 # 9 TRANSATLANTIC

Some may have found his first up effort when beaten as favourite disappointing however considering 1200m is short of his best his effort to finish close up coupled with having a few traffic issues in the straight the run was a good one. He steps out to 1400m this afternoon & the likely damp surface won’t be an issue. Don’t jump ship, stick with him!

RACE 8 # 11 POETIC DRAMA

Yet to run a bad race this prep she looks well up to taking out the feature. Strong winning first up she then settled back in a race where they just went too slowly in front, last start if not for striking a little interference early in the straight she would have run down the winner. Way down in the weights she looks very well placed.

RACE 9 # 9 SHALAA’S MOMENT

Quality mare from the Matt Hoysted yard who raced very consistently last prep. She resumed with a huge fishing burst to win over 800m at Ipswich before again victorious her next couple at Eagle Farm over 1000m. Luckless fourth up before sound in an unsuitably run race prior to spelling. She’s 3 from 6 on soft ground & 3 from 3 fresh. Look for her to be motoring late.
