The Melbourne Stars’ winless start to BBL|14 continued on Thursday night, going down to the Sydney Sixers despite posting 194 in the first innings.
With a win probability (via Cricinfo) of over 94 per cent at one stage of the match and Ben Duckett leading the way with 68 off 29 balls at the top of the order, the Stars set an imposing total for the Sixers to chase.
James Vince was the hero for Sydney, bashing 101 off 58 balls, dominating a Stars bowling attack that was largely toothless.
40-year-old Peter Siddle went at seven runs per over, but every other Stars bowler struggled in what is not a great sign for the struggling Melbourne team.
The Perth Scorchers meanwhile did not have this issue, defeating the Heat by 33 runs later in the night.
The Scorchers set 165 to chase, thanks to some great Nick Hobson hitting, who scored 47 off 16 balls to close the innings out.
Spencer Johnson was the pick of the bowlers for the Heat, taking 4/20, including a maiden.
Brisbane however was simply not up to the task with the bat, losing three early wickets. Only Matt Renshaw (36 off 24) and Max Bryant (35 off 20) cracked double figures.
