South Sydney CEO Blake Solly has revealed the Rabbitohs would be interested in a move to Allianz Stadium should the NSW Government not upgrade Accor Stadium.

The Rabbitohs have called Accor Stadium home since 2006, but as stadiums around Sydney, including Allianz Stadium and Commbank Stadium, receive major renovations, Solly wants the NSW Government to commit to their plan to upgrade the stadium before they make a decision on the home future of their club.

Should the Rabbitohs move venues, it would see them share their home ground with traditional arch-nemesis the Sydney Roosters, setting up a new chapter in their cross-town rivalry that dates back to 1908.

Speaking on SEN 1170 Mornings, Solly said the club wants what’s best for their fans and players.

“We’ve been pretty consistent now for a long period of time that we want to stay at Accor provided the government and Venues NSW deliver on their commitment to invest into Accor,” Solly said.

“If they’re not going to invest in Accor, we’d like to move to Allianz where the government has invested a billion dollars into creating a fan experience that is fantastic.

“We’ll be patient. We’re working with Venues NSW, we’re listening to the government, but at some stage they’re going to have to make a decision on the future of Accor and hopefully when they do that, they'll make a decision on our future.

“We’d like our next deal with Venues NSW and the government to be a 25-year deal not a 5 or 10 or 15-year deal.

“It's a great stadium but it's getting up to 30 years old now. It just needs a really strong renovation and refurbishment program to make sure it keeps pace with all the other stadiums that our fans and members go to.

“They want a fan experience… that matches what they get when they go to the other stadiums.”

The Rabbitohs will play their first 2025 game at Accor Stadium in Round 4, against the Penrith Panthers on March 27.
