Ken Hinkley has shared his thoughts on the Top 10 taggers in the game.
These are the players that he believes have proved themselves to be effective in shutting down some of the competition’s best midfielders, particularly Nick Daicos and Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.
“They’re the two boys that are going to get used to it, Nick and Nas. They're going to get used to these blokes. They're going to hear these names a bit each week they come up,” said Hinkley on SEN Sportsday.
So here are the names of those taggers below:
10 - Ed Langdon (Melbourne)
“I ended up on Ed Langdon from Melbourne because of the job he did on Nick Daicos a couple of years ago. Did an absolute great job on him. Massive, massive performance.”
9 - George Hewett (Carlton)
“He can find the ball as well, and he's been a great player, one of the best and fairest for them last year, so he's obviously doing his job well.”
8 - Willem Drew (Port Adelaide)
“He's a great run with player who gets plenty of the ball himself, and his form in the pre-season by all reports is first class this season, so hopefully he has a great year.”
7 - Finn Maginness (Hawthorn)
“He’s a great tagger and has done a good job on Nick Daicos.”
6 - Marcus Windhager (St Kilda)
“Now this is the one that made me a little bit uncomfortable because this is the one I thought would have been with Nick Daicos on Sunday night. He's been an incredible tagger in the back half of last year.”
5 - Harry Perryman (Collingwood)
“He can play anywhere. He is the ultimate tagger wherever you need him.”
4 - Josh Dunkley (Brisbane)
“He's a bit stiff to be 4, probably. He’s a run with, he’s a Willem Drew, he’s a Perryman.”
3 - James Jordon (Sydney)
“He's done some pretty big jobs.”
2 - Toby Bedford (GWS)
“He's got power and agility, he can run all day, and he's got top speed, so he can go with those fast guys like Nick Daicos.”
1 - Oisin Mullin (Geelong)
“He is what I consider the number one tagger in the game currently with the job that I've seen him do on Zak Butters. This young man, he is such a tough bugger, and he’s got speed, power, and he'll actually chase the ball a little bit too.”
