Adam Simpson has dismissed the latest reports surrounding Carlton's for its next head coach.

Since parting ways with Michael Voss after their Round 9 loss to the Brisbane Lions, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding who the Blues will appoint as their ninth permanent coach since the start of the millennium.

On 3AW’s pre-game coverage from Friday night, The Age’s Sam McClure reported that the race for Carlton’s next coach was between interim coach Josh Fraser and St Kilda assistant coach Corey Enright.

“Carlton won't say this publicly, and I don't expect him to," he said.

"But it's very clear to me speaking to people in and around the club (that) if they beat Hawthorn tomorrow night, and then they beat Collingwood next Saturday night, I think Josh Fraser would put himself in the box seat for that job,” he said.

“He would be conducting the interview without having to do it on paper, essentially.

“If he doesn't, I'd still have Corey Enright as the hot favourite for the Carlton job.

“(He’s) highly regarded, everyone you speak to at St Kilda loves him, everyone you speak to who is a former teammate thinks that he was always going to be a good coach.”

Reacting to McClure’s report, the former West Coast coach who is on the selection panel alongside club president Rob Priestley, CEO Graham Wright and GM of Football Chris Davies was quick to disregard it.

“What I'm really pleased about this process so far from a Carlton point of view is nothing's got out,” Simpson told SEN’s Crunch Time.

“And something might get out at some stages; the more you talk, the more it gets revealed, but none of that was true.”

Simpson also noted that the panel had not met with any candidates twice despite a report from Fox Footy's Drew Jones suggesting they had met with Enright for a second time.

Fraser will look to extend his winning streak to eight games when they take on the Hawks this Saturday at the MCG.

The clash begins at 7:35pm AEST.
