Zac Bailey’s management will sit down with Brisbane before the end of this week as the restricted free agent moves closer to re-signing with Brisbane.

With numerous list managers and player managers on the Gold Coast for the under 16 national championships, Lions list boss Dom Ambrogio and Tom McConville of Mac’s Sports Promotions are due to catch up.

It comes after Lions coach Chris Fagan and veteran defender Dayne Zorko both recently spoke of their optimism around Bailey re-committing, despite Adelaide’s enormous $10 million offer.

“I’m confident Zac will sign,” Zorko told SENQ Breakfast.

“I’m not sure if he will sign this week, but I’m very confident that Zac will stay part of our football team going forward.

“I don’t know where it lies in contract talks or anything like that, but yeah, just the conversations that I’ve had with him.”

Bailey would be signing an improved seven-year Lions contract and stands to inherit more midfield minutes with Lachie Neale likely to join Collingwood.

Academy player Sam Marshall is also searching for a new club and greater playing opportunities.

Marshall played 11 games last year, including the first half of the Grand Final, but has featured only twice this year despite the Lions’ injury woes.
