"Could get ugly": Vossy's big call for Raiders v Tigers

With the Raiders finding their form towards the final stages of the home and away season, could they deliver an emphatic victory against a hapless Wests Tigers to continue their finals push?

After defying expectations in 2025, which saw the Green Machine claim their first minor premiership in 35 years, a poor start to 2026 has seen Canberra back towards the bottom half of the ladder.

But in recent times, Ricky Stuart’s side has hit their straps, with the club currently on their longest win streak of the season with three wins on the trot.

With Canberra’s young spine humming along in recent weeks, Perth Bears assistant coach Ben Gardiner believes that the club can continue to build their case for a late finals push despite a tough run home against the Panthers, Sharks and Knights.

“I think if we can get Owen Pattie, Ethan Strange and Ethan Sanders working in tandem with Kaeo Weekes like they have been the last two weeks, I think that they can go on and win three or four games on the trot,” Gardiner said on SEN’s Front Office with Vossy.

“That is the challenge though, they're young guys, keeping them in the game and keeping their heads in the game and their focus there for three or four weeks, that's been their challenge.

“But if they can do that, they're a really good chance (of pushing for finals).”

In contrast, the Tigers are in the midst of a five-game losing streak with the club still dealing with the drama of Jarome Luai’s exit at season’s end as they drop to 14th.

And with their form plateauing, Andrew Voss believes Canberra could smash the merged club on the scoreboard.

“If they don't get complacent this week and the Tigers (with) the way they're going lock me in for 40 or 50 (points) for Canberra,” Voss added.

“It could be ugly for the Tigers on Saturday with the Raiders red hot.”
