As Essendon's AFL season concludes, the club is now narrowing in on their next coach.

AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey has reported that Sydney Swans assistant coach and former 232-game player for the Bombers, Mark McVeigh, will present again to the club's board on Monday (tomorrow), with a decision set to be finalised on Tuesday.

The former GWS caretaker coach has now emerged as a favourite for the position, with the likes of Fremantle's Jaymie Graham, Adelaide's Murray Davis and Essendon legend and former coach of the club James Hird having made the final interview rounds.

The Bombers have finished this season in 18th place following a three-point loss to Port Adelaide on Sunday afternoon at Marvel Stadium.

More to come.
