Sydney star Nick Blakey will reportedly "canvas rival options in the coming days", according to AFL Media's Cal Twomey.
Geelong has already been linked to the 26-year-old while the likes of Essendon, Gold Coast and North Melbourne have also been linked.
Specifically speaking about interest from the Cats, Kane Cornes speculated on the type of player Geelong should throw up if they do get involved in Blakey discussions.
"The one I thought of from a trade perspective, was Sam De Koning," Cornes said on AFL Trade Radio.
"He would be the one that could satisfy the Swans. One year to run on his deal, he'd have to be convinced to go there.
"He is exactly what the Swans could use."
Tim Watson and Garry Lyon also threw out some possible Cats names on SEN Breakfast.
Watson asked: “They would want talent that would be commensurable with the talent they’re losing. Who on the Geelong list would they be prepared to deal to Sydney to secure Blakey?”
Lyon replied: “That’s a top-25 player in the competition. So, none.”
Watson: “Even if you packaged Sam De Koning and say Lawson Humphries or Gryan Miers? Would you take that if you were Sydney?”
Lyon: “No, I wouldn’t. But I don’t know how disgruntled he is and how committed he is to wanting out of the joint.
“Also, don’t go to a competitor who might cost you the premiership. That’s the last thing you’d be doing!”
St Kilda co-captain Callum Wilkie says the club will keep moving forward with or without Rowan Marshall.
The Saints ruckman boycotted the Trevor Barker Awards on Monday night as he seeks a trade to Geelong.
Wilkie, who won the best and fairest, says player movement is simply the nature of the beast and the club can only do one thing if Marshall opts to leave - get on with it.
“Rowan is a great competitor and he’s a great mate of mine,” Wilkie said on SEN Breakfast.
"He’s a great person to have around the locker room. He had some amazing games for us this year.
“He’s obviously requested a trade, it’s well documented. We’re going to miss him if he goes. That’s obviously still got to get done.
“But we love him for what he’s given to this footy club over the last 10 years. He’s been an incredible servant and warrior.
“It will be interesting to see where the side is without him, but he’s obviously wanting to make that move so we’ll see what happens in the next week.”
The joint skipper was asked by Garry Lyon: “Is the group mature enough to look upon it and understand this is how football works these days?”
Wilkie replied: “Rowan probably wants to play No.1 ruck.
“The club obviously brought Tom De Koning across and felt a need to get first use with his hands in the ruck. The midfield was a shining light, top six in the league for clearances.
“Everyone understands the nature of the beast and people move so much these days.
“No one in the playing group is begrudging of Rowan for requesting that trade knowing full well what the situation is.
“The club and the players are mature enough to realise. We love Rowan, we love what he’s given and we’re going to miss him if the deal gets done.
“The constant thing about a football club is change. There’s change every single year and by the time that deal gets done, he’ll walk out the door if that happens, and come day one of pre-season the club doesn’t stop and it moves on.
“We’ll miss him as a mate and as a competitor, but we all know we’ve got a job to do.
“There’s no ill-feelings within the playing group and we’re committed to taking this club forward.”
