Brisbane’s GM of football, Danny Daly, has ruled himself out of the race to replace Chris Fagan as senor coach at the Lions.

After Fagan stepped away from the club following his third straight premiership, the Lions were said to be looking internally for the club’s next head coach, with Daly and assistant Cam Bruce leading the race to step into the role.

However, as reported by the Herald Sun’s Jay Clark, Daly has rescinded his interest in the job.

It is now said that Bruce leads the race, while reports have also suggested that Geelong assistant coach Nathan Buckley is also in the mix for the job.

Daly is instead on the club's coaching search panel.

The panel is as follows:

Andrew Wellington - Chair
Sam Graham - CEO
Leigh Matthews - Director
Danny Daly - Footy boss
Phil Smyth - Leadership
Simon Black - Club great
Matti Clements - AIS sports psych
