Carlton gets: Whitfield, picks 31, 50
GWS gets: Picks 25, 26, 2028 third-round pick

Whitfield joins Carlton on a three-year deal.

Nick Blakey's apology

Nick Blakey has issued an apology to the Swans and the wider community following his exit from the club earlier today.

Just a matter of hours ago, Sydney agreed on a deal with the Kangaroos to send Nick Blakey to North Melbourne in exchange for a range of top draft picks.

The deal comes after Blakey was suspended by the Swans due to events that allegedly occurred at a Melbourne hotel just days out from the conclusion of the home and away season, where Blakey remains under investigation alongside four other Sydney Swans players.

Blakey has already apologised to the Swans players, both male and female, internally.

Upon joining the Kangaroos, Blakey issued the following statement.

"I want to say that I'm sorry for the events that led up to my exit from Sydney," Blakey said.

"I know I have to win back the trust of the broader community, football and otherwise.

"Now I have the opportunity to move forward and I want to thank North Melbourne for helping me find a fresh start.

"I'm grateful I have landed at a place that has such deep connections to me and my family.

"There is so much potential in this group and I'm looking forward to getting to work to help take North Melbourne forward."

DONE DEAL

Zane Duursma has moved from North Melbourne to Melbourne.

The Demons receive Duursma and Pick 52.

The Roos receive Picks 33 and 49.

DONE DEAL

Collingwood have acquired Carlton ruckman Flynn Riley, sending a 2028 F3 in exchange.

Riley joins on a four-year deal.

DONE DEAL

Nick Blakey is a Shinboner!

North Melbourne have paid up and the Swans are satisfied, securing Nick Blakey on a deal that sees two first-round picks, two seconds and a third head to Sydney.

The deal is as follows:
North gets: Nick Blakey, Pick 52, second-round 2028
Sydney gets: Pick 6 & 47, second-round 2027, first-round 2028, second-round 2028

Tigers “mystified” by Magpies’ Short-coming

Richmond is believed to be somewhat “mystified” by Collingwood’s lack of action surrounding Jayden Short.

The premiership veteran, who is open to leaving the Tigers, has interest from the Magpies through senior coach Craig McRae after the pair worked together at Punt Road.

But despite the attention shown by the Pies, there has been no offer forthcoming which has the Tigers perplexed.

“Richmond is more than a little bit mystified by given their thinking is that the coach of Collingwood has been driving this for much of the year,” Edmund said on AFL Trade Radio.

“Then when the whips have started to crack they’re nowhere to be seen. So they’ve turned his head, he wants to play for Collingwood, and now no offer forthcoming for him.

“There’s still time, clearly, but they’ve got some list issues we hear as well now, Collingwood. No trade offer put forward for Jayden Short.

“So that’s frustrating Richmond a little bit.

“There is (angst) for that very reason and this one has got to a stage where Short absolutely wants a fresh start.

“You talk about players and not everyone getting on with the coach and everyone not always happy with their role and the spot they play in the side.

“Well, that’s Jayden Short with Adem Yze, He just wants a fresh start.

“So he wants it to be a reunion with Craig McRae, but at the moment no real movement at the station there.”

Pies list boss Justin Leppitsch suggested it was more unlikely than likely that a deal would happen.

"It's not off… but it's unlikely," Leppitsch said.

"We're still working hard in the background to find ways.

"It's just whether we can get a deal done to satisfy Richmond."

North tables offer for Murray

Amid all their work on Nick Blakey, the Kangaroos have tabled an offer to Adelaide for Nick Murray.

As Cal Twomey reports, North have offered Pick 33 (which they are likely to receive from Melbourne for Zane Duursma) and their 2027 future first.

The Crows are keen on a pick in the top 20 of this year's draft.

Retired Docker to join North

Sam Switkowski is on the verge of joining North Melbourne as a development coach.

AFL Media's Josh Gabelich is reporting that Switkowski, who announced his shock retirement in August, will take a coaching role with the Kangaroos.

The Melbourne native will link up with his former Freo forward line coach Jaymie Graham who is now the senior coach at the Roos.

Switkowski will work alongside Richmond premiership player Kane Lambert in North's development team.

Swans interested in delisted Blue

Sydney is reportedly showing interest in Zac Williams.

Channel 7's Mitch Cleary says the Swans have an eye on the delisted Carlton defender.

With Nick Blakey still a strong chance to join North Melbourne in a trade, as well as Callum Mills' ACL injury and veteran Harry Cunningham's departure to Adelaide, the Swans are seeking half-back depth.

Williams started his career at GWS in 2013, playing 113 games for the Giants before joining the Blues ahead of the 2021 campaign.

SEN's Tom Morris further reported that Swans coach Dean Cox had spoken to Williams who is keen to play on next year.
