The Driver’s Seat – Sundays at 9am powered by RycoFilters – the professionals choice

Garry Rogers Motorsport stunned Supercars fans during the off season by axing veteran and former champion Garth Tander for the 2019 season, ending the three time Bathurst winner’s full-time driving career and replacing him with Richie Stanaway.

Stanaway will partner James Golding, the pair having finished 25th and 22nd as rookies in 2018 and comes to Garry Rogers Motorsport along with new major sponsor Boost Mobile following the exit of Wilson Security.

Rogers told The Driver’s Seat that securing the future for GRM was the driving force behind the shock move during the holiday break. “I will really miss Garth, he was fantastic in the early days and certainly in the last couple of years when he came back” said Rogers, “You need to take emotion out of all your decisions. The heart tells you to do some things but you’ve got to make sure you get the big picture in your mind, stick with your decisions and move along”

Shortly after his exit from GRM, Tander received a lifeline from the Red Bull Holden Racing Team to partner Shane van Gisbergen in the PIRTEK Enduro Cup.
