Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick says there’s “clearly an attraction” in potentially adding John Worsfold to its coaching staff next season.
Essendon coach Worsfold has previously stated that he’ll keep a “very broad mind” regarding his next move once he returns home to Perth for family reasons at the conclusion of 2020.
Garlick said the Dockers would “be silly” not to look at bringing the West Coast great to the club to provide additional support to rookie coach Justin Longmuir.
"Clearly John (Worsfold) has got a remarkable record as a player, as a coach, as a general leader in AFL footy so you'd be silly not to look at that type of option,” he told ABC Radio.
"I don't know John well, I did utilise his wisdom and expertise in a process that eventuated in Luke Beveridge being appointed when I was at the (Western) Bulldogs and found him really insightful and measured during that process.
"There's clearly an attraction but the reality is I haven't spoken to John. I don't believe anyone else at the club has at this point in time."
In his fifth and final season at the Bombers, Worsfold will be replaced by Brett Rutten as part of a coaching succession plan from 2021.
