A powerful hitting display from Jake Fraser-McGurk has carried the Renegades to their first win of the BBL season.
Chasing 177, the young Victorian smashed 70 off 37 balls, while Shaun Marsh supported him up the other end with 54 off 33.
It came after Chris Lynn did the damage in the first innings, hitting 56 off 34 balls. D’Arcy Short struggled for rhythm, but still brought up his own 54 off 47.
Some superb bowling from Mujeeb Ur Rahman stifled the Strikers, with the Afghani spinner taking 3/20, including the wickets of Matthew Short, Chris Lynn and Jake Weatherald.
Melbourne made the call to omit Nic Maddinson and Aaron Finch from their line-up for the clash and it will be interesting to see whether they stick with the younger side.
Adelaide will look to bounce back when they host the Stars on New Year’s Eve. The Renegades will also play their crosstown rivals in their next match, taking place on January 2nd.
