Collingwood midfielder Tom Mitchell won’t return anytime in the near future after undergoing surgery on his left foot.
The Pies put Mitchell under the knife following a lack of progress in addressing the plantar fasciitis in his left foot that had kept him sidelined since Round 7.
Earlier this week, Collingwood expected Mitchell to return in Round 13, 14 or 16.
But the latest update puts him out for another six to eight weeks, until late in the home and away season.
Tom Mitchell has undergone a minor procedure on the plantar fascia in his left foot.

“Tom has undergone a minor procedure to address the plantar fasciitis he has been managing,” Magpies high performance boss Jarrod Wade said in a statement.
“Following further consultation, surgery was the best option to help Tom regain full function in his foot.
“Tom will have a period of rest and recovery post-surgery before commencing a return to play program where we expect to see him return to the game in the back end of the season.”
Collingwood lines up against Melbourne in the annual King;s Birthday match on Monday and is already missing the likes of Jamie Elliott (foot), Scott Pendlebury (arm), Jordan De Goey (abdomen) Brodie Mihocek (hamstring), Dan McStay (knee), Mason Cox (knee) and more.
