Brisbane Broncos legend Corey Parker is throwing his name into the hat as coach Kevvie Walters searches for a new coaching staff ahead of the 2025 NRL season.
Walters’ current staff of Lee Briers, John Cartwright and Matt Ballin are all set to depart their posts at the end of the season, with the trio all lining up a chance to eventually become head coaches.
Although Ballin’s exit hasn’t been confirmed, many reports have linked him with a move to the Gold Coast Titans to re-unite with his former coach Des Hasler.
“Lee Briers, the assistant coach of the Broncos at the moment, he is off to St Helens,” Parker told SENQ Breakfast.
“John Cartwright, the assistant coach at the Broncos, is off overseas to take up a head coaching role.
“So, at the moment, the Brisbane Broncos don’t have any assistants as we speak.
“Matty Ballin, is allegedly going to take up his role with the Titans, whether that happens or not I’m not sure, he spent plenty of time under Des when he was at the Manly Sea Eagles.
“It’ll be very interesting to see what happens at Red Hill.”
Parker made no secret of the joys he gets from coaching and when a listener asked if he’d be interested in joining the Broncos, he replied: “Yeah absolutely (I’d like to do it).
“I’ve been part of the coaching staff under (Anthony) Seibold and also under Walters before Lee Briers and Cartwright came on board.
“I’d love to be involved with the Broncos, that’s a no-brainer.
“My life has been at the Brisbane Broncos, coaching is something I thoroughly enjoy, however, my phone hasn’t rung.”
The Broncos play a potentially season-defining clash on Saturday afternoon as they host the inform Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs.
