Aside from a few mathematical miracles going the club's way, the One NZ Warriors saw their faint hopes of playing Finals footy this season slip through their fingers in a messy 32-30 golden point defeat against Wayne Bennett's Dolphins.
The completions rates or defensive numbers did not make for pretty viewing for either side, but once again, having an inability to clinch victory with the boot also played a factor in the latest defeat for Andrew Webster's side.
Currently sitting 14th on the NRL ladder and five points out of the top eight with three games and a last round bye remaining, the Warriors will see a few familiar faces come into the lineup for Friday night's away fixture with the Manly Sea Eagles.
After a quad strain saw Shaun Johnson become a late scratch the previous round, the retiring star playmaker is back with Webster assuring the halfback will be on the field. Adam Pompey also returns to the centres and provides another goal-kicking option, as does Marcelo Montoya on the wing.
With impressive showings in the NSW Cup the past two weekends, Luke Metcalf has been named as part of the extended squad with the potential of being elevated to the gameday lineup.
Ahead of Round 24 in the NRL, Running It Straight hosts Sam Hewat and Anthony Gelling are joined by SEN's Justin Horo for your weekly rugby league fix.
SENZ will have live commentary of the NZ Warriors vs Manly Sea Eagles from 7.30pm Friday NZT - available on the SENZ app and all local frequencies.
