Prime Minister Anthony Albanese joined Breakfast with Vossy & Brandy to announce the PM’s XIII and share his Grand Final tip.
Albanese explains he has real impact in the selection of the team and takes that role seriously, believing a great team has been formed.
“We tried to get a balance there of some real up and comers, future stars…then mixing it up with some veterans,” he told SEN Breakfast with Vossy & Brandy.
This included players like Fletcher Sharpe, Lachlan Galvin, Xavier Savage and Tallis Duncan, who the Prime Minister sees as having real potential for the Australian side.
The side will be coached by Kangaroos International Brad Fittler and captained by Damien Cook.
“Damien Cook will be the captain, he will lead the team around the ground with great distinction,” he added.
“We try to have players from all the clubs represented so I think that gives everyone the opportunity.”
The PM’s XIII will face off against the Papaua New Guinea PM's XIII on October 13.
The Prime Minister also spoke excitedly about Sundays Grand Final, expecting to see a close game, narrowly tipping the Panthers to take it out.
“I am tipping Penrith to get there. They seem to know how to get it done.”
“I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Melbourne got there, they have been the best team all year.”
The Panthers will face off against the Storm on Sunday night in a game even the Prime Minister expects will keep the nation on their toes.
“I’m really looking forward to the best two teams playing off on Sunday, I hope it’s a tight game. I’m sure it will be.”
