Ladbrokes form analyst Nick Quinn has put forward a strong push for a certain Te Akau runner in this year’s edition of the Listed Cranbourne Cup (1600m).

The New Zealand racing team are looking to continue their raid on Victorian Country Cups this season after Midnight Blue’s success in the Listed Seymour Cup (1600m).

The horse in question is It’s A Wild Night, having it’s first start in Australia after back-to-back victories in Tauranga and Matamata.

Quinn is adamant the recent winning form of the five-year-old will translate into this weekend’s race as Blake Shinn takes the reins for the first time.

“I think the starting point and the number one seed has to be the Te Akau runner here, Number 9 - It’s A Wild Night,” Quinn said on SENTrack's Ladbrokes Spring Breakfast.

“15 career starts for eight victories, comes into this chasing a winning hat-trick with some really strong New Zealand form.

“Ben Gleeson and the team are going to be up and about for this horse… they really like this galloper so it’s a big tick for me.”

The Cup headlines a day that has been given new life thanks to the addition of the 1200m Ladbrokes Meteorite. 2024 will be the first running of the new $1 million race with Baraqiel most likely to start as its favourite, currently sitting at $2.70 with Sportsbet.

Meanwhile, Quinn’s tip in the Cup is the $4.60 favourite with Sportsbet and will jump from barrier 5 tomorrow.

With 36-degree temperatures forecast, the Mark Walker-trained gelding will need to overcome weather rarely seen across the Tasman to secure the prize money.
