Leading form analyst Mick Gannon has provided his best bets for the weekend of racing.

Gannon has targeted Kembla Grange for his specials.

Best Bets

Race 5 - 2000m - MODESTY

Modesty is a talented gelding who took a big step forward last start when rising in trip from 1300m to 1800m.

In an evenly run race, he settled off the speed and impressively reeled in his rivals, defying the track pattern of the day.

The step up to 2000m third-up looks perfectly timed, and he maps to get an ideal run from a great draw. Expect him to settle midfield with cover, peel off heels in the straight, and power home late to prove too strong for his opposition.

At $8.50 (at the time this was written), he represents fantastic value and shapes as the best bet of the day.

Race 8 - The Gong (1600m) - GRINGOTTS

A competitive field of 16 lines up for this year’s edition of The Gong, contested over the mile in what promises to be a thrilling race.

There appears to be little to no early speed on paper, which gives a significant advantage to the favourite, Gringotts.

After overcoming a wide draw in the Big Dance and producing an exceptional performance, he looks well-equipped to handle another tricky barrier here.

If he can replicate his last run against a quality field, Gringotts ($5.00) will be very hard to run down.

Meanwhile, Territory Express has been knocking on the door and is due for a change in fortune.

However, his low draw in a race with limited pace could see him boxed in when the pressure mounts on the turn for home.

He’ll need plenty of luck to figure in the finish.

Race 9 - The Warra 1000m - DRAGONSTONE

A field of 11 sprinters assembles for The Warra, shaping as a tactical affair with only two genuine leaders, South Of India and Kote, set to dictate the early tempo.

Both come into this race as roughies, but with the lack of speed in the field, either could surprise and be in the finish.

The horse to beat however is Dragonstone ($4.80), who is racing in career-best form and showing newfound versatility as he matures.

From barrier 4, he’s perfectly positioned to track the leaders and strike as they turn for home. His last-start performance was impressive, and a repeat effort should see him right in the mix again. At a current quote of $5.50, he represents excellent value given his map advantage and form.
