India keeping hungry Aussies at bay as Hazlewood goes down with another injury

India is keeping Australia at bay in Brisbane with the visitors 6/167 at Lunch on Day 4 in response to Australia’s first innings score of 445.

With India still 278 runs in arrears, the path to a result occurring is no doubt Australia taking wickets across the final five sessions of the game.

That won’t be easy though with one of Australia’s strike bowlers Josh Hazlewood going off with what’s been described as ‘calf awareness’ after suffering the concern in this morning’s warm-up.

With Hazlewood getting scans, Pat Cummins (2/41), Mitchell Starc (2/58) and Nathan Lyon (1/33) are doing the bulk of the work against not out batsmen Ravindra Jadeja (41 not out) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (7 not out).

The star for India to start Day 4 was without doubt KL Rahul who made his way to 84 after being dropped by Steve Smith off the bowling of Pat Cummins on the first ball of the day. Smith eventually made amends for that mistake by removing him with an absolute ripper in slip off the bowling of Nathan Lyon.

The other batsman to lose his wicket so far on Tuesday is Rohit Sharma who fell to Cummins on 10.

Australia will have the option of sending India back in under the follow-on rule if they can’t get within 200 runs of the home side’s first innings score.

The Aussies will go in search of more wickets when the second session starts in Brisbane at 2:25 pm (AEDT) and 1:25 pm (local time).
