UPDATE
India have dramatically avoided the follow on late on day four as play is called off early again due to bad light.
The visitors head into stumps at 9-252, with Akash Deep (27) and Jasprit Bumrah (10) still at the crease at the conclusion of day four.
Despite the heroic efforts, the visitors still require a whopping 193 runs to take the lead over Australia, with now only one day left in the match.
Play will resume again at 9:50am local time where Australia will need to take 11 wickets in order to go into the Boxing Day test with a 2-1 advantage.

Josh Hazlewood looks set to miss the rest of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after the seamer sustained a right calf strain on the morning of Day 4 in Brisbane.
The right-armer bowled just one over on the morning of Day 4 after suffering the injury in the warm-up and Cricket Australia have released a statement stating that he’s now likely to miss the remaining two Tests in Melbourne and Sydney, with a squad replacement to be named in due course.
It’s expected that Scott Boland will again take his place in the XI for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.
With Hazlewood out of the attack and constant rain delays breaking up play, Australia have struggled to break India down who are 7/201 at Tea on Day 4, 244 runs behind Australia’s first innings total.
With four sessions remaining, Australia will need to take 13 more wickets to win, and they will have to bat again and set the visitors a target if India get to 246, ensuring the home side can’t enforce the follow-on.
The lone wicket to fall in the shortened second session was Nitish Kumar Reddy who chopped a Pat Cummins delivery. The skipper now has 3/49 from 15 overs.
The not out batsmen are Ravindra Jadeja (65 not out) and Mohammed Siraj (1 not out) and the Aussies will need to remove them quickly if they’re any chance of chasing a result.

EARLIER
India is keeping Australia at bay in Brisbane with the visitors 6/167 at Lunch on Day 4 in response to Australia’s first innings score of 445.
With India still 278 runs in arrears, the path to a result occurring is no doubt Australia taking wickets across the final five sessions of the game.
That won’t be easy though with one of Australia’s strike bowlers Josh Hazlewood going off with what’s been described as ‘calf awareness’ after suffering the concern in this morning’s warm-up.
With Hazlewood getting scans, Pat Cummins (2/41), Mitchell Starc (2/58) and Nathan Lyon (1/33) are doing the bulk of the work against not out batsmen Ravindra Jadeja (41 not out) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (7 not out).
The star for India to start Day 4 was without doubt KL Rahul who made his way to 84 after being dropped by Steve Smith off the bowling of Pat Cummins on the first ball of the day. Smith eventually made amends for that mistake by removing him with an absolute ripper in slip off the bowling of Nathan Lyon.
The other batsman to lose his wicket so far on Tuesday is Rohit Sharma who fell to Cummins on 10.
Australia will have the option of sending India back in under the follow-on rule if they can’t get within 200 runs of the home side’s first innings score.
The Aussies will go in search of more wickets when the second session starts in Brisbane at 2:25 pm (AEDT) and 1:25 pm (local time).
