Mark Bosnich has predicted that Ange Postecoglou will know his Tottenham fate by the second week of February.
The Australian manager and his injury-hit Spurs side are on a poor run of form, winless in six Premier League games with five of those ending in defeat.
The North London club has fallen to 15th on the league table on the back of 12 losses which is as many as relegation-threatened Ipswich Town.
That scenario has many questioning Postecoglou’s tenure at the helm.
But there does remain some hope for the former Socceroos boss to push on with Spurs who will meet Liverpool in the Carabao Cup second leg at Anfield on February 7 before taking on Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round a few days later.
That is when his fate will be decided, according to former Villa, Manchester United and Australia goalkeeper Bosnich who has three key observations regarding the under-fire coach.
“Number one - they should be in a better position than 15th in the league, regardless of the amount of injuries they’ve got,” Bosnich said on SENQ Breakfast.
“Number two - his fate will be decided in the first week of February, in my opinion, when they play Liverpool away in the second leg of the League Cup in which they are 1-0 up. On that weekend they play Aston Villa away in the FA Cup fourth round.
“If he loses those two games I can’t see him staying any longer.
“And the third observation is that the team is going through a bad patch, there’s no doubt about that, but this business of looking down on the ground during interviews just doesn’t wash.
“You’re a representative of your club, you’re an excellent manager, and regardless of what’s going on you’ve still got to represent the club in the right way. Look at the camera.
“The body language I saw after the Everton game was just not good. Not for him or more importantly his players. Players go off their top man and in this case it’s their manager.
“He needs to pick himself up, unless he’s thinking along different lines, unless he is a beaten man, which I don’t think he is.
“He shouldn’t act like it because that’s exactly what he and his players looked against Everton, a team that was struggling.
“That first week in February will decide his fate in my opinion.”
Spurs next meet German club Hoffenheim away in the Europa League on Friday morning at 4:45am AEDT.
They host Leicester City in the Premier League this weekend.
