The Melbourne Mavericks have drafted in some superstar power to kickstart their 2025 season with Delta Goodrem set to perform at John Cain Arena.

The Mavs take on Lightning in their curtain raiser this Saturday at 7pm as they look to continue their winning streak against the Queensland side who they beat twice in their inaugural season.

Goodrem will perform before the first centre bounce on April 5.

“As a club, we are raring to go and ready hit the court for our first home game of the 2025 SSN season,” Mav General Manager Shae Bolton-Brown said.

“The players don’t need much more motivation than to finally put all their hard work throughout the pre-season into effect when we take on the Lightning.

“However, for our members and fans, to have an artist of Delta’s calibre also joining us to celebrate Round 1 thanks to Lean Cuisine, it’s going to be a really great night on and off the court.”

It’s been an impressive pre-season for the Mavs who last weekend finished fourth at the Team Girls Cup in Adelaide after a narrow two-point defeat to the Swifts.

They also won all three of their pre-season clashes against strong competition.

Mavs coach Tracey Neville is upbeat about how her side is shaping up for their second outing in the competition.

“The tournament (TGC) provided valuable exposure to the teams we’ll be facing throughout the season and set a clear standard for the expectations we need to meet.

“There’s still plenty for us to learn before Round One, but it was an excellent opportunity to put a large portion of our contracted players into high-pressure situations, which will be crucial as we move into the season.”
