Tanah Boyd has opened up on his season-ending ACL injury as he hopes to be fully fit before the start of next year's season.

It’s a case of déjà vu for the Warriors this season, with their starting halfback having had their season ended by an ACL injury.

This time, it was Boyd who had his 2026 come to an end during the opening minutes of their 42-12 win against the Broncos during Magic Round.

Like Luke Metcalf in 2025, the former Titan was having a career-best year for the Warriors, with the 25-year-old managing 10 try assists, nine line break assists, and three tries in his 10 games.

Reflecting on the moment, the halfback admitted that he felt he had let the club down following the injury.

“Yeah, it was nuts,” Boyd said on SEN's Front Office with Vossy.

“Kind of weird, when I'd done it and then in the space of five seconds all that flashed in my head.

“’Cause I literally signed the contract that week. You feel like you let the club down, the boys down, everything, that all comes in.

“But it was a great year for me, and I take a lot of confidence into next year, that's for sure.”

But having now had surgery, Boyd is hopeful of returning before the start of next season.

“I want to be back to full training, full contact, everything after the Christmas break,” Boyd added.

“So, then I can get some good weeks before Round One and trials. I want to be playing trials.

“So, that's what I'm looking at now. I was lucky, I got to have surgery a week cause I had no swelling and everything like that.

“Once I had surgery, (I) mapped all of it out and (then) got into it straight away.”

The Warriors will head back to Suncorp Stadium for the first time since Magic Round when they take on the Dolphins this Saturday in a top-four battle.

Kick off takes place at 3pm AEST, with SEN League having live coverage of the match from 1pm with Crunch Time NRL.
