Trade talk: Pies circling one-game Blue

Collingwood is showing interest in Carlton’s Flynn Riley.

According to AFL Media’s Riley Beveridge, the Magpies are circling the 22-year-old ruckman who has played one senior game for the Blues.

Riley was picked up by the Blues in this year’s mid-season draft out of their VFL team.

He has an offer on the table from Carlton, but the Pies are looking at him to cover the injured Oscar Steene as back-up to Darcy Cameron for 2027.

“Collingwood has interest in Carlton’s six-month ruck Flynn Riley,” Beveridge said on Gettable.

“The Blues took Riley with Pick 4 in the mid-season draft. He’s only played one game for the club.

“The Pies were interested in him in the lead-up to that mid-season draft. They interviewed him in the lead-up and have since renewed that interest.

“They would like to trade for him this October.

“Carlton has offered Riley a deal and he’s weighing that up now. I don’t think the Blues have any interest in upping that offer.

“The club is completely comfortable with it and comfortable with whatever outcome happens from here.

“The Pies are circling Flynn Riley. Oscar Steene went down with that knee injury and will miss the bulk of 2027 as well.

“They’ve got Darcy Cameron there but they need a secondary ruck.”
