SENTrack: Chris Nelson's Saturday best bets at Eagle Farm (28/12)

Racing in Queensland today comes from Eagle Farm where the track has been posted a soft (5) rating this morning. We’re heading for the hottest day in Brisbane this year with a forecast max of 37 degrees before possible storms late this afternoon, hopefully after the last race. Expect a swift upgrade to a Good (4) & possibly even a (3) as the day goes on. Plenty of feature racing on the card which contains 10 races, the first of which will get under way at 12.13pm local time. Looks an each-way kind of day…

BEST BETS RACE 1 # 7 BOOM SHOT

Tony Gollan trained galloper who has finished around 2L from the winner at his past 3 starts. Two back he looked very unlucky when held up, he certainly should have finished closer. Last time he just gave away too much start before closing off nicely although no match for the winner. This really does look a very suitable race & I’d be surprised should he not figure in the finish.

RACE 2 # 2 GRAFTERBURNERS

Very winnable looking race for this Kelly Schweida trained colt who closed off strongly on debut in horrendous conditions before a last to first victory at Ipswich just over a week ago. Yes, the tempo aided his chances however he did pick them up comfortably then moved clear to the line with more to offer. He gets an additional 100m this afternoon which will suit nicely.

RACE 3 # 5 SUN WORSHIPPER

Not one single runner in this race has been out to this 2100m trip, some may find the task beyond them? I’m confident that won’t be the case with this Toowoomba trained filly who has found the line very nicely at 1630 & 1800m her past couple. Both were on heavy tracks which she won’t get this afternoon however note she won three back on a Good rated surface.
